BANGALORE: On a long travel, if a KSRTC bus stops at an unhygienic restaurant which serves tasteless food at high prices don't blame the conductors and drivers of bad taste. The Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has an agreement with such hotels and it is mandatory for drivers to stop the buses there. If that wasn't a punishment enough, the drivers are penalized if they choose not to stop in front of these selected hotels.
P Ravindra, a lecturer at East Point College of Engineering, said, "On my return trip from Tirupati, the KSRTC bus stopped at Sri Balaji Bhavan near Nangli. The driver told us that was the only stop for dinner, leaving us with no option except to eat there or sleep empty stomach. The ghee rice there was nothing close to its name. Besides serving us unpalatable food, the prices were two times more than the prices in Bangalore. The toilets in these hotels are badly maintained."Ravindra further said that the driver's revelation that they directed to do so by their officials took him and the copassengers to surprise. Some of the drivers on the condition of anonymity claimed that they are penalized for not stopping in front of the hotels specified by their superiors and they have to get their tripsheets stamped at the hotels.
