Bangalore: 6 men accused in the gangrape case of NLS student convicted
A Nepali national in her early 20s was abducted and raped by a gang of local youth in October 2012.

Bangalore: Almost a year after they raped a student of India's top Law College, National Law School of India, University (NLSIU) Bangalore, six accused have been convicted by a lower court in Bangalore on Wednesday. The seventh accused Raja is still absconding. The eighth accused is a minor and the trial is going on at a Juvenile court in Bangalore.

The sentencing (quantum of the punishment) will decided on September 6.

A Nepali national in her early 20s was abducted and raped by a gang of local youth in October 2012. The gang found the survivor in the company of her male college mate at NLSIU in the Bangalore University campus. They attacked her college mate, took the survivor deeper into the heavily wooded campus and took turns to rape her.

Of the total eight accused, seven were held by the police after a big manhunt. The victim left NLSIU and returned to Nepal after the incident. However she came to Bangalore to give all details of the incident to the trial court.
