KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the anticipatory bail plea filed by HDFC Kudamaloor branch manager G S Harikrishnan, the accused in the suicide case of a nursing student, to next week. The petitioner submitted that the officials had to adhere to the bank’s rules and regulations while considering the student’s loan application. The bank had specified two reasons for rejecting the application filed by Shruthi Srikanth, a second-year BSc Nursing student, who committed suicide after the bank officials allegedly denied her an educational loan. One was that the student had failed in one subject and had only cleared it in another attempt. The second reason was that the student’s mother had defaulted on a previous loan sanctioned by the bank. Meanwhile, Parameswaran Thekkinedath, area credit manager of the HDFC Palarivattom branch, also approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail, apprehending an arrest by the Kottayam West police.“My duty is only to co-ordinate the activities of credit managers in Kerala and forward the reports for further processing,” Parameswaran said.
