Mumbai: The latest film from the Bhatt camp is shot in the exotic locales of South Asia especially Korea.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s new film Gangster starring Emraan Hashmi, Shiney Ahuja and newcomer Kangana is directed by Anurag Basu of Murder fame.
Rumours were abuzz that the film is loosely based on the life of gangster Abu Salem but the makers have refuted the allegations.
Gangster was first offered to Pakistani bowler Shoaib Akhtar but he refused to do the role.
"You have a dreaded gangster who's not afraid of killing people or terrorising them but when it comes to his beloved he is madly in love with her. I find this dichotomy, this other phase of human beings very fascinating," Mahesh Bhatt said.
"I play the role of a young and simple 25-year-old guy. He falls in love with a woman and finds that she has had a relationship with a gangster," actor Emraan Hashmi said.
Gangster has been shot extensively in South Korea and is scheduled for release in April 2006.
Bollywood doesn't mind going the extra mile as foreign tourism boards like Korea Tourism Organisation continue to woo filmmakers.
Bhatt said that India has a lot to offer South Korea in terms of film infrastructure.
Co-operation between the two countries could lead to production of good movies, he added.
