After launching the programme to train 10 lakh youths in different technical professions in the coming five years, the State Government, in collaboration with National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training & Research, Kolkata, has initiated steps for creating quality teachers by providing updated teaching learning materials in polytechnics. Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik on Friday inaugurated a workshop here on training of technical teachers through e-learning mode. Patnaik said there is an urgent need to update the teachers and trainers about recent technological developments. For this, e-learning is an effective mode as it has the advantage of giving quality online audio-visual training, he said.
Secretary in Employment, Technical Education and Training Department, CS Kumar said teachers in 13 Government and 90 private polytechnics will be benefited. Around 1,000 teachers will receive continuous online training. Students can receive higher quality study materials through the system, he said. Each institution will have to invest about ` 1 to 1.5 lakh for installation of the system to receive the training.
