Police scanned the area after getting a call that a bomb had been planted. Call was made froma near court.
New Delhi: Police evacuated the area around India Gate and conducted extensive searches on Saturday after a call that a bomb had been planted. It was a hoax.
Bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs and fire tenders rushed to the place after the police control room got a call at 10:55 am.
Searches were carried out for around 90 minutes and police declared the call a hoax at around 12:30 pm. The call has been traced to a post office near Patiala House Court complex, officials said adding investigations were on to trace the caller.
A series of hoax calls and an e-mail to Delhi Police threatening to carry out an attack at the Red Fort have kept the police on their toes in the past few days.
