Boy allegedly beaten to death by father

PAYYANUR: A young boy who was allegedly beaten up by his father died at Pulingom here on Wednesday. The father was said to be in a highly inebriated state when he tortured his son.
Sajith, 14, a student of the Pulingom Vocational Higher Secondary School, suffered serious head injuries in the incident. The police took Shaji, 40, his father, into custody based on a complaint filed by Rejani, the boy's mother. Shaji had locked up his wife and two other children while punishing Sajith. He beat up his son demanding the money kept by him to buy a TV, the police said.
