Burglars loot Rs 5-Lakh valuables from 2 houses

TIRUPUR: Burglars looted gold jewellery and silver articles worth Rs 5 lakh and Rs 45,000 in cash from two houses in the district on Saturday.According to police sources, Vanjinathan (30), a resident of Ragavendra Nagar in Thirumurganpoondi, near here, had gone for shopping on Saturday evening along with his family, when a gang gained entry into his house by breaking open the window grill.  The burglars broke open the bureau and looted 23 sovereigns of gold jewellery, seven silver vessels and Rs 20,000 in cash.  Anuparpalayam police have registered a case and are investigating.In the other incident, a gang broke open the front door lock of the house of Velusamy at Ramamoorthy Nagar at D Kalipalayam in Dharapuram on Saturday night and stole Rs 25,000 cash kept in the bureau.  A case was registered.
