What is Circle Rate?

The circle rate is the minimum rate of property in an area. Any piece of land or house cannot be bought or sold at a price lower than that. The circle rate is issued by the administration of the area. The purpose of issuing it is to prevent tax evasion. Even if the price written on the sales deed is less than the circle rate, the Sub-Registrar concerned with the Stamp and Registration Department calculates the stamp duty as per the current circle rate.
