New Delhi: Ahead of the SAARC summit next week to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cabinet on Thursday approved signing of the framework agreement for setting up a regional power grid.
The SAARC Framework Agreement for Energy Cooperation among the SAARC Member States to be signed at 18th SAARC Summit scheduled to be held at Kathmandu on November 26-27 will enable greater cooperation in the power sector among SAARC countries, the power ministry said.
"The Agreement is expected to improve the power availability in the entire SAARC region. It would facilitate integrated operation of the regional power grid", the statement added.
