PALAKKAD: The CBI probe into the death of former company secretary of Malabar Cements Ltd (MCL) Saseendran and his two sons, Vivek and Vyas who were found hanging in their Kurudikad residence on January 24, 2011, is in the final stages with the investigating agency questioning the three accused who have been mentioned in the FIR.The FIR filed by the CBI in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Ernakulam, has named the then managing director of MCL M Sundaramurthy, executive secretary P Suryanarayanan and industrialist V M Radhakrishnan as the first,second and third accused,respectively.The first to be questioned was P Suryanarayanan who is considered close to V M Radhakrishnan.Sanal Kumar, brother of the deceased Saseendran, in a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding a CBI probe into the corruption in MCL had stated that it was after Suryanarayanan’s appointment as personal secretary that it became difficult for Saseendran to continue in the company due to repeated interferences and coercive tactics.Sanal Kumar had said that when Saseendran refused to toe the line of Sundaramoorthy in approving controversial business deals, he was repeatedly issued show-cause notices.Saseendran was also not given the customary time to rethink on his resignation letter which was accepted in a haste. There could also be another round of questioning of the accused later, said CBI sources.The CBI officials had also questioned the other officials of MCL. Sanal Kumar has repeatedly said that the corruption cases at MCL were intricately linked to the death of his brother.He has stated that Saseendran was a witness in many of the cases charged by the Vigilance Department against officials and contractors connected with MCL.
