THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State convention of Kerala CBSE School Managements Association was inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Wednesday. Inaugurating the convention, Chandy assured that any decision of the government regarding the CBSE schools including staff welfare measures would be taken only after consultation with the Association representatives. The Chief Minister also released the Convention Magazine. Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb informed the gathering that the government had no intention to put a deadline for the closing down of any of the CBSE schools. He assured that adverse and impractical aspects in the government circular with respect to the existing schools will be reviewed and solved amicably after consulting with all the stake holders. The association website www.keralacbsesma.org was launched by Kunhalikutty. Association general secretary Indira Rajan exalted the members to be vigilant and courageous in facing the issues. She said that the schools were facing threat in view of the Government Order dated October 2011, wherein the existing schools had been asked to submit for combined NOC and Recognition, which was not expected in the Right to Education Act. There is a very serious contradiction in the Government Order and CBSE bylaws, where by the State Government is forcing the schools to adopt SCERT as their controlling body instead of NCERT which will completely destroy the character of CBSE schools totally.
