Centre should provide more aid for rehabilitation of endosulfan victims: Muneer

He was speaking after inaugurating the valedictory function of the two-day national workshop CONCORD 2012 (Consultative Workshop on Rehabilitation of Endosulfan Victims and Rejuvenation of Ecosystem) held here on Sunday.The workshop was organised by the district panchayat and National Programme for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disability (NPRPD) to draft a blueprint of rehabilitation and restoration of ecology in the 11 Endosulfan-hit panchayats of the district.The minister also said that the Central government should provide more aid for the Endosulfan victims.“Being the government of a country that manufactures and exports the pesticide, the Centre has the responsibility to rehabilitate the victims,” he said.The minister in his inaugural speech assured that the facilities at the Buds schools would be improved soon and more teachers would be recruited.Treatment for patients through Ayurveda and Panchakarma will be included in the medical facilities. He also promised that an artificial limb manufacturing factory, with modern technology would be established in the district. He also said that of the 100 motor vehicles, 20 would be distributed for the disabled persons in the district. District panchayat president P P Shyamala Devi handed over the declaration to M K Muneer.
