The ministry has asked states to identify an area of over 2500 acres, which the states have to give the ministry for free to build AIIMS.

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has written a letter to eleven states to find land to build All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) like institutes and asked them to get back to the ministry within a month.

The states to which letters have been written are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Assam, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Punjab and Haryana.

The ministry has asked states to identify an area of over 2500 acres, which the states have to give the ministry for free to build AIIMS.

After the states have reverted back to the Centre, teams will be sent to inspect the area, if it has proper electricity and water supply.
