City celebrates Easter

KOCHI Church bells chimed in and around Kochi city during the early morning hours on Sunday, in commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ in all his glory. In Latin Churches, rites were performed with the lighting of the Pascal Lamb. This is the symbolic representation of Christ who offered himself at the Cross for humanity. Baptism revival was also observed.Thousands of devotees were seen thronging the churches in the wee hours of Sunday,  participating in the liturgical proceedings in their respective churches. At churches under Syro-Malabar Church in the city, dramatic representations of Christ’s resurrection were enacted during different sessions. Holy Mass was also celebrated in remembrance of the resurrection. Easter messages were also delivered from the pulpits. After the ceremony, sweets and cakes were distributed.
