Civil Supplies Department raids eateries

BANGALORE: The officials of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies seized several LPG cylinders from eateries in North Bangalore on Monday.Confirming the action, Food and Civil Supplies Commissioner N V Prasad said that, while such raids were undertaken based on complaints registered on their toll-free number, the raid on Monday was part of their routine.“We cannot really comment on the number of LPG cylinders seized as we have to look into each case thoroughly.Then we can decide if is just use of LPG cylinder or a case of illegal re-filling, in which case a complaint has to be filed with the Police.A report will soon be filed,” he said.The raids would be more proactively taken with punitive effects once the Department’s exercise to identify consumers with illegal LPG connections is completed, Food and Civil Supplies Commissioner added.
