TIRUPATI: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy made a surprise inspection of government maternity hospital and SC Welfare Boy's hostel in Tirupati on Saturday.At the hospital, accompanied by Tirupati MP, Chinta Mohan, MLA, K Chiranjeevi, ministers N Raghuveera Reddy, C Ramachandraiah and Galla Aruna Kumari, he visited a couple of wards, inspected labour rooms and post-labour wards, interacted with patients, nurses and doctors.Later addressing hospital staff, CM said that this hospital is one of the oldest and caters to needs of pregnant women, not only from Chittoor but all adjacent districts.He said that with increasing number of patients, there has been a request for upgrading hospital from current 150 beds to 300 beds and required infrastructure to go with it. "With God's blessings, you are taking care of patients. You should dedicate yourself more and improve the quality of services. I am happy to note that cleanliness is being maintained here. After discussing with TTD and central government, a pertaining to doubling bed strength in hospital will be taken within one month" he explained.The chief minister said that there has also been a request for setting up OP block, which too will be sanctioned after discussing with concerned authorities, after one month. He said that TTD has been providing breakfast to the hospital and asked TTD to supply food for the entire day.He said that it had come to his notice that contract nurses were not being paid salaries and that issue too would be addressed. He emphasised that all problems of nurses across the state would be addressed.
