BHUBANESWAR: Opposition Congress and BJP members expressed concern over alleged large-scale corruption and irregularities in Jharsuguda municipality. Raising the issue through a Calling Attention notice, Naba Kishore Das (Cong) alleged that though the State Government swears by transparency, an officer under Vigilance investigation has been appointed as the executive officer of the urban body. He said how can there be a proper inquiry into the irregularities in the civic body if the officer continues in the post. Das demanded that he be shifted from the position immediately for an impartial probe. Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh and Leader of BJP Legislature Party KV Singhdeo also criticised the State Government for the large-scale ‘irregularities’ in the urban body. Making a statement, Minister of State for Urban Development Sharada Nayak assured that action will be taken against the officer if proved guilty in the investigation.
