Thousands of CPM activists from across the district participated in the day-long protest meet organised by the CPM against the anti-people policies of the state and Central Governments. As part of the state-wide protest, Collectorate picketing and blockade were organised in the district.
CPM state secretariat member and district secretary M V Govindan inaugurated the protest meet.
Speaking on the occasion, M V Govindan criticised the government stand in the issue of price hike.
“The CPM will continue with its fight against the anti-people policies of the state and Central Governments,” he said.
“The Central Government, which has given a concession of nearly Rs 24,00,000 crore to the rich people has not been able to find a mere `64 crore for implementing the food security project,” he said.
