Pathsala (Assam): In what could be the first theatrical documentation of the life of Pakistan's assassinated leader Benazir Bhutto, Assam's famed mobile theatre on Friday begins staging a play on the famous personality.
The play, 'Benazir Bhutto', will focus on her tumultous life touching on her Oxford University days, prime ministership, exile, return to the country and the eventual fall to terrorists' bullets.
The play, being staged by a theatrical group Abahan, has generated a lot of excitement here and holds a lot of promise judging by the Assam mobile theatre's earlier dramatife of the self-christened Daughter of the East.
Bhutto was from an aristocratic family and was recognized for her trade-mark fashion statements, which have given the play's stylists a hard time, Sharma said.
Angurlata, a top cinema artiste of the state, will play Bhutto's character for whom costumes were tailored in Mumbai and make-up artists brought from some southern states.
"A single song sequence for the play has cost Rs four lakh. There are nine sets being used and each has cost almost Rs 30,000," the playwright said.
Assam's famed mobile theatre rolls out in mid-August and winds up by April. They are known for their exposition of themes that require technical expertise of the highest nature.
Cine megaventures like Titanic, Jurrasic Park and Sholay have been successfully enacted on stage here.
