Decision to hike OP ticket fee revoked

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The decision to hike the OP ticket fee in government hospitals from Re 1 to Rs 5 has been revoked. Health Minister V S Sivakumar signed the file in this regard,which was the first step taken after he assumed charge of the Health portfolio on Monday.“OP ticket fee of Re 1 would continue,” said the minister. The hike in the fee had a political fallout ever since it was announced recently by Adoor Prakash before he moved from Health to the Revenue portfolio after a reshuffle was effected  in the Oommen Chandy Government.The Opposition including its leader V S Achuthanandan had come out against it and had been demanding its rollback.
