New Delhi: The capital's controversial BRT corridor for buses should be scrapped in its present form, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said. He has asked Transport Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj to go into the matter, Kejriwal said.

Introduced some six years ago in South Delhi, Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) corridor had led to massive traffic jams prompting demands from citizens that it be scrapped. Kejriwal's predecessor Sheila Dikshit had backed BRT till the very end of her tenure but had relented just before the December Assembly polls, promising to disband it if voted back to power. She was trounced in the polls.

The government had spent around Rs 150 crore to build the BRT corridor.
