Her family watched helplessly as her condition deteriorated slowly and now wants death for her rapists and murderers. The braveheart's parents are also not satisfied with the juvenile justice board's judgement in the case of the minor who got three years in a correctional home.

On the night of December 16, 2012 the brutal gangrape in a moving bus on the streets of Delhi shocked the nation because of its sheer brutality.

A 23-year-old medical student who had stepped out of a South Delhi mall after watching a film with a friend took an autorickshaw. At 9 pm, the duo boarded a private licenced bus.

Some time later, the bus diverted from its normal route and six men ganged up on the 23-year-old after beating up her friend. She fought back, but was repeatedly sexually assaulted and her abdomen and private parts were badly beaten. At 10 pm, she was stripped naked and thrown off the bus.

For the next 25 minutes the Delhi braveheart and her male friend kept begging for help from the passersby. It was only around 10:30 pm that a PCR van reached them after receiving a call from a passerby. By the time the PCR van arrived, two of them were surrounded by locals but none of them gave a helping hand.

The bus was located with help of CCTV footage and the police was swift to nab the men. The bus driver Ram Singh, was arrested on December 17. Ram Singh's brother Mukesh, fruit-seller Pawan and Vinay, helper at a local gym, were arrested on December 18. Akshay, the bus cleaner, was arrested on December 21 and the juvenile offender, also a bus cleaner, was located on December 21. The stage was set for a landmark trial and the nation now awaits the verdict.
