A man in his forties was on Wednesday crushed to death by Delhi-Ambala Express when it was passing through the district, triggering protests which saw people pelting stones at Dehradun Express, injuring its driver and five passengers, police said.
"A 40-plus man was crushed under the Delhi-Ambala Express when it was passing through the district," SP Anees Ahmad Ansari said.
Irked over the incident, protestors pelted stones at the Dehradun Express when it was passing through, injuring its driver and several passengers, Ansari said.
The engine's front glass was also broken due to the stone-pelting, he said.
The train driver, Shiv Kumar, did not stop the train there and instead took it to Devbad station where the injured were attended to, the SP said.
The man who was crushed under the train was not immediately identified, he said.
