BANGALORE: Two women were killed on the spot and another woman was severely injured as a BMTC bus knocked them down after the bus driver suffered an epileptic attack.The incident was reported at N R Colony on Friday evening.The deceased have been identified as Mamatha (40), a housewife residing at N R Colony, and Jaya (22), a resident of Friends Colony in Uttarahalli.While Sheeba (22), a B.Com student, sustained severe head injuries in the accident.She has been admitted to Victoria Hospital and her condition is said to be critical.The bus driver has also been admitted to NIMHANS.According to the police, BMTC bus (KA-01-F-3190 and route no.31E) plying between Majestic and Thyagarajanagar was going towards Thyagarajanagar when the incident occurred.While driving, the bus driver suffered an epileptic attack and lost control over the bus.Eventually, the bus rammed into two electrical poles, on the road side.Due to the force, the poles broke into two and fell on the bus.But the bus still moved further and knocked down Mamatha, Jaya and Sheeba, who were walking on the pavement.Mamatha and Jaya were killed on the spot, while Sheeba sustained grave head injuries.“The bus stopped only after ramming to the compound of a house.But the exit door was jammed and it was not possible to open.Meanwhile, the electrical wires were lying on the bus posing a grave threat to the passengers inside the bus.Luckily the power was cut due to the accident and if there was electricity supply, the situation would have been more worse.The passengers were brought out by breaking open the emergency exit.Later, the driver was also shifted to hospital,” the police added.About 5-6 passengers also sustained minor injuries in the accident.There were not many people on the pavement, which resulted in less casualties.The accident resulted in traffic jam.
