THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The expert committee set up by the Supreme Court to evaluate the treasure kept in the vaults of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, started the evaluation work here on Monday.
The committee which met in the morning discussed various issues relating to the temple treasure and evolved an action plan to be followed. The committee with National Museum Institute Vice-Chancellor C V Ananda Bose as coordinator is yet to decide on the opening of the B vault of the temple as the matter is pending before the Supreme Court. The videographing of the evaluation process was not carried out on Monday though it was discussed at the meeting.

The Supreme Court, in its verdict last month, had asked the committee to prepare a scientific assessment of the treasure and also directed to videograph and photograph the treasure.

The committee also held talks with the threemember committee comprising Justice M N Krishnan, head of the Travancore royal family Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma and Devaswom Secretary K Jayakumar, which the Supreme Court had nominated as monitoring panel.
