As the much-anticipated Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration ceremony (Pran Pratistha) approaches, the enthusiasm among devotees is reaching new heights. The grand event on January 22 is expected to witness a huge gathering of politicians, celebrities, and dignitaries from across the country.
The consecration ceremony will be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At the heart of the management of the Ram Mandir lies the Ramanandi sect, the largest sect of Vaishnavas, known for its deep-rooted connection to Lord Ram, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Followers of the Ramanandi sect, who proudly consider themselves descendants of Shri Ram’s sons Lava and Kusha, have played a pivotal role in the temple’s construction in Ayodhya.
The seers of Ramanandi Sampradaya worship Lord Ram, Mata Sita and Lord Hanuman. Their method of worship, widely followed in Ayodhya, has become synonymous with the spiritual fabric of the city.
The roots of the Ramanandi sect trace back to Swami Ramanand, respectfully addressed as Swami Jagatguru Shri Ramanandacharya. A pioneer of the Bhakti movement in medieval India, he founded the Vaishnava Bairagi sect, aimed at eliminating the caste-based discriminations in the society. Swami Ramanand started a new sect with the motto that caste-based differences should not hinder religious and spiritual activities. The Ramanandi Sect has now evolved into 36 sub-branches.
Swami Ramanandacharya, propagated devotion to Lord Shri Ram across all sections of society. He was a religious and social reformer of the 15th century, motivating a large following that eventually formed the Ramanandi sect.
As the consecration ceremony approaches, the seers of Ramanandi sect are going to perform important rituals during Pran Pratishtha of Lord Ram Lalla on January 22. The seers of the sect are also shouldering various duties for the construction and management of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
