Ex-transport minister has no car

TIRUCHY: Neither former minister KN Nehru nor his family members own a car, while having 12 vehicles only for the purpose of agriculture.As per the affidavit filed by  Tiruchy West by-poll DMK candidate KN Nehru, he has assets valued at Rs 17.77 crore, while his debts amount to Rs 10.09 crore.However, his son Arun Nehru has immovable property worth Rs 14.30 crore.The former minister who has been imprisoned on several charges of land grabbing has mentioned that the total immovable properties include 38.41 acre agriculture land worth Rs 70 lakh. His wife Shantha has 5.29 acre of agriculture land and non-agricultural land worth Rs 4.09 lakh.Nehru movable property, includes 12 vehicles worth Rs 51.15 lakh purely used for agriculture. His wife has movable properties, including 200 sovereigns of jewels and one kg silver articles worth Rs 78.28 lakh and his son possesses movable properties worth ` 1.44 crore.However, Nehru has borrowed loans worth Rs 9.78 lakh (SBI, Lalgudi A/C no. 3122845874 and in A/C No 11295129980) while his son Arun Nehru has a loan of ` 10 crore (HDFC bank Annasalai, Chennai, File No 359758985/1/SS35).Surprisingly, when Nehru filed the affidavit in April 17, 2006 while contesting from Tiruchy II (presently Tiruchy West), he had immovable properties in his name just worth Rs 19.96 lakh, his wife possessed properties worth Rs 6.64 lakh while his son had properties worth just Rs 29,360.Similarly, the movable properties filed by him in 2006 stated that Nehru had Rs 12.15 lakh, his wife Rs 1.42 crore while his son had Rs 1.02 crore properties.
