Fake seals seized from Manju Agency

KOCHI: The shadow police wing of the Ernakulam North police on Monday raided the office of Manju Lottery Agency in Kacheripady and seized seals belonging to a couple of other agencies.The raid was based on a tip-off that the agency had been using the seals of other lottery agencies to sell tickets after the government imposed a ban on it for allegedly involving in illegal online trade. “We have seized the seals of P T Muhammad Agencies and another agency operating near the High Court. The tickets of state government-sponsored lotteries such as Summer Bumper, Prateeksha, Dhanshree, Karunya, Pournami, Akshaya and Bagyanidhi were confiscated. We have also seized an amount of Rs1,80,000 from the office,” a police official said.  City Police Commissioner Ajith Kumar said the police had been taking stringent action against the sale of illegal lotteries and shadow police was operating to keep tab on such illegal activities. The raid was conducted as per the directions of Ernakulam Range IG K Padmakumar.
