The failure of WiFi led to the closure of online auctioning of silk cocoon at the silk market. The angry silk growers hit the streets blocking traffic on the highway.
Bengaluru: Farmers blocked the busy Bengaluru–Mysore National Highway for two hours on Monday morning following the failure of WiFi at Ramanagara, Asia's largest silk market.
The failure of WiFi led to the closure of online auctioning of silk cocoon at the silk market. The angry silk growers hit the streets blocking traffic on the highway.
The online auction of silk cocoon started at 11 o'clock on Monday morning. After a few minutes, the dedicated high speed WiFi connection failed due to some technical reason.
At around 1:45 pm senior police officials arrived at the spot and assured the growers that WiFi would be restored soon following which the agitators called off the road blockade.
