CHENNAI: : The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chennai, hosted its graduation show 2012 on May 22 on its premises with the graduating class of apparel production, fashion management and knitwear design showcasing their projects. Models walked the ramp showcasing students’ creations. Three categories of awards were given to the students. Dr G Santhanam IAS, Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu, Department of Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi, distributed the awards. Ashish Shubanshu bagged the award for most commercially viable project; Kriti Sharma got the award for the best graduation project and Praveen kumar and Ram Prasad for the most innovative project. Each student designed four to five garments, which were displayed on the ramp. Dr Santhanam appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to be creative as this was a powerful tool.
