DHENKANAL: Members of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Kendriya Vidyalaya here have lambasted the school administration for mismanagement and demanded immediate redressal of the grievances. The school has been functioning without a Principal for about two months now. This apart, nine faculty positions have been lying vacant. PTA has sought appointment of regular teachers for Chemistry, English and Social Science. The management’s apathy to fill the vacancies has allegedly taken a toll on the academic performance of the students. Students of Plus-II (Science) attributed poor performance in Class X Mathematics to lack of proper guidance from teachers. While the post of a Post-Graduate Trained (PGT) English teacher has been lying vacant for over a year now, the PGT Chemistry teacher was transferred recently. The Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) of Chemistry, initially appointed to teach students from Std-VIII to X has been entrusted with the Plus-II Science students. As a result, the secondary students suffer. Similar is the situation with Social Science. The management has been trying hard to plug the loopholes with contractual teachers, who allegedly fell short on performance. As a result, the 750 odd students are apparently losing interest in studies. The Assistant Commissioner of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has been apprised of the situation, administrative officials said. PTA secretary Satyanarayan Rath also alleged irregularities in the disbursal of pre and post-Matric scholarship for SC and ST students. The students are not even informed of when and how to apply, he said.
