BANGALORE: On Thursday morning, fire broke out in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) West office. Reportedly, BBMP West zone control room personnel noticed fire breaking out at around 6.30 am in the first floor of the building.
It is said, fire brigade vehicles reached the spot at around 8.30 am. However, no casualities were reported in the incident. Speaking to the reporters, BBMP's Joint Commissioner (West) V P Ikkeri said, as the doors and windows were closed, they noticed fire only after a few hours. He informed that the office houses documents of eight wards. "Out of eight wards, one ward's documents were burnt and two other wards' documents are partially burnt. There is no damage to other documents," he said, adding that BBMP is now fully computerised and all the documents are also available in computer. The BBMP has now decided to shift to the new premises at Rajajinagar II block.
