KOLLAM : A three-member crew of a traditional fishing boat on Wednesday registered a complaint with the Neendakara Coastal Police that it was allegedly targeted by marksmen of a vessel about 20 km off Kollam coast in the morning. Incidentally, the small fishing boat shares the name ‘St Antony’ with the boat attacked by Italian vessel Enrica Lexie on February 15 off Alappuzha coast. The crew, Antony and Baby Herbin, brothers from Joanakappuram in Kollam, and Nazareth from Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram, claimed that a single shot was fired above their heads. One of them said that the ship was red and white in colour. Defence sources said in Thiruvananthapuram that the ship fired only warning shots mistaking the fishermen for pirates. The Coast Guard has issued instructions to all vessels to avoid firing warning shots.
