BANGALORE: The Karnataka branch of National Association for the Blind (NAB) held a programme at its premises on Saturday to distribute course completion certificates to the candidates of their Ratna Atmaram Rao Computer Training Centre. Group Manager of Target India Rakesh Mishra was the guest of honour and distributed the certificates.Started in 1999 and named after its founder president, the computer centre conducts two different programmes for visually challenged persons. The advanced courses run for a year and the basic course is for a duration of four months. The batch of 13 who graduated on Saturday were in the basic computer course and were instructed on topics like Internet, email, power point and other office related applications. This course comes certified by the National Institute for Information Technology (NIIT) which conducts the exams and awards the certificates.“This course assists our students in getting jobs in the corporate sector, they can now look forward to working in big companies in IT related jobs,” said M Srinivas, CEO, NAB. “The course being certified by NIIT, we ensure there is a high level of quality maintained and the students benefit. We have been training students since 2000,” he added.The centre will now be interviewing new candidates on Monday. Eligibility for the basic course is PUC along with knowledge of English and Braille.
