CHENNAI: The foreign national, who was found swimming in a pond in Shankar Nagar, has been shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Government General Hospital on Tuesday. Police sources said she was earlier kept in the female ward and later shifted to the ICU to keep her under watch. “May be they have shifted her after mediapersons came looking for her,” said a police official. When Express tried to speak to her, the woman just moved her eyelids. “She was brought here (ICU) as we did not want anyone to see or disturb her,” said a hospital staff. The woman was the subject of discussion among attenders waiting outside the ward to meet patients.Police are taking all efforts to identify the woman and her nationality. “We have sent a requisition letter along with the woman’s photograph to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office and alerted all police stations here to inform us of any missing complaints. We will wait for the FRRO to get back to us,” Shankar Nagar Inspector Srinivasan  said.On Monday, residents of Shankar Nagar alerted police after they saw the woman swimming in a pond in a closed quarry.
