PUDUCHERRY: A 58-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in Venkateshwara Nagar on Wednesday night. According to police, Allaine Jayamani was found lying in a pool of blood by her foster son, Nirmal, who informed the D’Nagar police.Jayamani had returned to India after the death of her husband three months ago and had reached Puducherry 15 days ago with her son Joan.She had been staying in the house with Nirmal, who had gone out on Wednesday morning and returned only in the evening. Dy IG of Police I D Shukla, SP Monica Bharadwaj, SP (South) A Nandagopal visited the house.Police suspect the involvement of people known to the woman. A young lady, who frequented the house, and the foster son were being questioned. DyIG Shukla said the police are confident that they would be able to nab the culprits soon.In another incident, a Rajasthani youth, Devendra Kumar (25), working as a tourist guide here, was found dead, on Thursday, at his rented accommodation in Solainagar. Police have registered a case of murder after initial investigations. Devendra Kumar, belonging to Jodhpur in Rajasthan, had been staying here for the last two years. He was working as a tourist guide and was also a French student.His father after failing to get any response from his son on his mobile contacted his brother Subash. Subash went to Devendra’s house and found him lying in a pool of blood.On receiving information, SP (North) N T Sivadasan reached the spot. Devendra had a deep injury below the chest. The Muthialpet police are investigating. The murders have added to problems of Puducherry Police, who are presently facing criticism from opposition parties for failing to maintain peace.
