HOSUR: Some unidentified persons murdered a driver and hijacked his van near Hosur on Saturday. The victim has been identified as Dharmalingam (38) of Vazhapadi in Salem district. Two days ago, a body was found in a decomposed condition under a bridge in Melumalai near Hosur. Based on a complaint from the VAO, Soolagiri police recovered the body and sent it to Hosur GH. With the help of a label on the victim’s shirt, which read Jolly Tailors, Vazhapadi, police enquired the tailors and identified the deceased as Dharmalingam, driver of a tempo van owned by Ananda Murthy of Salem. According to police, Murthy sent Dharmalingam with the van 10 days ago to Royakotta to transport mangoes to Bangalore. But Dharmalingam did not reach Royakotta. When he tried to contact Dharmalingam, his mobile was switched off. Murthy lodged a missing complaint with Salem police. Hosur police confirmed that the body was that of Dharmalingam after his wife Rani came and confirmed it. But the police could not arrive at any conclusion why he was murdered. A search has been launched for the van.
