New Delhi: Marathon world record holder Haile Gebrselassie believes he can run faster and could soon break his own marathon record set at the World Championships in Berlin.
"Very important even if I can not do you know just 2.02 (two hours two minutes) I can play you know just very close to that you know like even you know 2.03.30 it's possible surely very possible in Berlin and for next time just preparing well and it will be possible. But 2.02 is something very special and of course it needs hard thing for that, hard training. We'll see. Who knows?" says Gebrselassie.
The Ethiopian has been training in Los Angeles before he travels once again to Berlin, the city where he has already won thrice in the past.
Gebrselassie believes he is hoping to at least better his own record by two seconds this time.
Considered one of the greatest long distance runners of all times, Gebrselassie has broken more than 25 world records and claimed Olympic gold medals at both Sydney 2000 and Atlanta 1996.
At 36, he is concentrating now in competing at fewer marathon events and running shorter races to keep in good shape.
