Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy of the High Court on Friday directed the EAMCET-2012 convenor to inform the candidates at the time of admissions that there would be likelihood of an upward revision of the tuition fee fixed by the AFRC (Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee) for the colleges concerned.
Dealing with two separate writ petitions filed by KVSR Siddhartha College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Vijayawada), G Pulla Reddy College of Pharmacy, Anwarul- Uloom College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Hyderabad) and Vishnu College of Pharmacy (Bhimavaram) against the fee notified by the government, the judge directed the convener to ensure that all the students concerned were made aware at the counselling stage itself that subject to final outcome of the writ petitions (pending before the court) there was likelihood of an upward revision of the tuition fee.
This would enable the students to apply to only those colleges which they can afford, the judge noted.
The colleges felt aggrieved by the fee of Rs 31,000 fixed by the AFRC for their colleges in respect of B.Pharmacy and D.Pharma courses, and wanted the court to direct the authorities concerned to fix a fee of Rs 50,200 and above for the academic year 2012-13.
Recently, a similar direction has been given in respect of Vasavi and other engineering colleges.
