HYDERABAD: The state government on Monday signed an MoU assigning 108 services to the GVKEMRI.
In the new agreement the operational cost per ambulance per month has been reduced from `1.18 lakh to `95,000. Therefore, during next five years the government would be providing `566.14 crore towards operational expenditure and `79.37 crore towards capital expenditure.The earlier MoU expired on March 31. The government after several discussions have extended the MoU with GVKEMRI for another five years from October 1.

According to officials, the existing 108 services would be further strengthened by this MoU by adding additional services like dropping back of postnatal women, replacing 650 ambulances with new ambulances in the next five years and refurbishing the 440 ambulances at a cost of `74.72 crore and providing new medical equipment to the ambulances with `2.65 crore for better patientcare in emergencies.
