Sydney: A Hungarian hang glider who spent an uncomfortable night dangling from the branches of a 12-metre (40-foot) tree was rescued unharmed by emergency services, police said.
The 42-year-old had been competing in an international hang gliding competition in the southeastern state of Victoria when he crashed into a tree on Thursday.
Organisers raised the alarm when he failed to return as expected. A police helicopter then spotted the man hanging from a tree early on Friday.
"He was found hanging from a tree and he has been rescued. He was dehydrated but is doing fine now," a police spokesperson said.
"He's tired and hungry but is happy that he was rescued in time. He is a very lucky man as he did not suffer any injuries," the spokesperson added.
