BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court advised the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), not to acquire bulk land for their projects and instead to go for smaller projects and ensure their implementation. During the hearing of a petition filed by Srinath Hegde and others challenging the demolition of houses at RMV II stage, Justice Shylendra Kumar made this suggestion. The suggestion came following the BDA’s submission that it cannot complete projects within five years. The Court said, “If you want an extension, go approach the government, and make it 20 years. Even if you are granted twenty years you will need hundred years to complete the projects.” The Court also instructed the BDA to submit clear information regarding land acquisition in RMV II Stage after the BDA submitted contradictory data. Pointing to some of the contradictory submission made by the BDA, in connection with the land acquisition at RMV II stage for this project, the High Court said that it the BDA had shown it as 250 acres at some places and at some places it was show as 200 acres and instructed the BDA to submit clear data and information.
