HC to hear case against social media websites

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court will hear the case against social networking websites on Monday. This comes after Facebook and Google challenged the trial court's order to prosecute these companies for objectionable content.

The government is expected to give its reply on Monday.

Google, Facebook and 19 other social networking sites faced legal action for offences of promoting enmity between classes after the Government granted sanction to prosecute them on Friday.

The Government on Friday told a Delhi court there is sufficient material to proceed against the 21 social networking sites, which included Yahoo and Microsoft for offences of promoting enmity between classes and causing prejudice to national integration.
