CHENNAI: A returning tourist party from Hong Kong was shaken up when they made a transit stop at Chennai, as one of them was found dead on landing. Preliminary reports have suggested that T Wah (73) died of a sudden cardiac arrest, that might have been caused by pressure variations during landing. The party of tourists was headed back home from Thiruvananthapuram by Air India flight AI 264, and landed here at 5.30 pm on Sunday. When the flight touched down, cabin crew found that Wah, who they believed to be asleep, allegedly did not wake up and showed no signs of breathing. Airport doctors and emergency staff arrived in time to merely confirm that Wah had died shortly before they attempted to wake him.The 27 tourists, including the elderly Wah, had just concluded a tour of South India and were headed back to Hong Kong. The body was shifted to the Chrompet GH, but sources suggest that an autopsy will be held only on Monday. More details on Wah’s cause of death will be made known then. The rest of the party is believed to have journeyed home, after a minor delay.
