UDHAGAMANDALAM: A stray horse, which fell into a water tank in front of a house near Alankar Theatre in Rose Garden area, was rescued by fire service personnel, after they struggled for more than three hours on Wednesday.Three stray horses took shelter under the sunshade of a house on Tuesday night because of continuous rain, which was accompanied by lightning and thunder. Unfortunately, one of the horses slipped and fell into a newly constructed water tank, which did not have a lid.On Wednesday morning, residents saw the horse struggling inside the tank and alerted the Fire Service and Rescue Department. A team, led by district fire service officer T Purusothaman, rushed to the spot around 7am, tied a rope around the body of the horse and tried to pull it out but their efforts were in vain. Then, they demolished the upper part of the tank using hammers and axes, and put sand bags into the tank so that the horse could climb out. But as the horse was tired, it did not move. Officials then fed the horse with vegetables and pulled it out successfully after three hours.
