India's 11th President and scientist Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam's death in Meghalaya's capital Shillong on Monday evening has led to outpouring of emotions by the citizens of the country. Kalam, also known as People's President because of his joyful and easy going nature, had a direct connect with the common people of the country who saw in him a man from a very humble beginning rising to become one of the top scientists of the country and then going on take oath as the President of India on July 25, 2002.
People have taken to Twitter, Facebook and Whatsapp to pay respect and homage to the man who was known by several names including the "Missile Man of India". AJP Abdul Kalam has been trending on Twitter since Monday evening and there have been long and eloquent posts on Facebook about Kalam's "simple living and high thinking" life.
Many Whatsapp groups and users have changed their DP to Kalam's photos.
