Prime Minister Narendra Modi resumed his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday after taking a break during the Lok Sabha elections.
In his first Mann Ki Baat episode after being elected as the Prime Minister for the third time, PM Modi spoke about the importance of June 30 for India and its connection with the country’s freedom movement.
In the 111th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Modi spoke about the ‘Hul Diwas’ celebrated by the tribal community. “This day is associated with the courage of Veer Sidhu and Kanhu, who strongly opposed the atrocities of foreign rulers,” said PM Modi.

Thousands of Santhali picked up arms against British rulers under the leadership of Veer Sidhu and Kanhu in 1855, two years before India’s first war of independence in 1857.
PM Modi also mentioned the commemoration of Rabindranath Tagore’s 300th birth anniversary in Turkmenistan, where the President unveiled a statue of India’s national poet.

Meanwhile, PM Modi, through his radio program, appealed to the countrymen to plant a tree in the name of their mothers under a special campaign named ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ which commenced on World Environment Day this year.
