MYSORE: The bandh observed in Hunsur town on Monday in protest against the kidnap and the killing of two youths, students of second year BBM in Mahajana’s college in Mysore, has evoked good response.Hunsur town wore a deserted look as all shops, commercial establishments, cinema halls and education institutes downed their shutters, condemning the police failure to rescue the abducted youths.The bandh was called by Nagarikara Hitha Rakshana Samiti and Traders Association.After the cremation of Sudheendra and Vignesh people blocked Mysore- Madikeri highway for more than four hours and took out a protest rally.MLC S Chikkamadu alleged that the state government had failed to maintain law and order and incidents of kidnap are being reported from across the state. He said that the police have failed to rescue the students even after four days of the kidnapping incident.Accusing the police of failing to utilise technology, he criticised Home Minister R Ashok and the district police for the failure to protect civilians.Hunsur MLA HP Manjunath also appealed to the public to withdraw the stir.IGP Samarkumar Pandey and SP Manish Karbekar assured the public that the culprits would be nabbed soon.
