Hurriyat rejects PM's talk offer
Centre did not comment immediately whether it would proceed with the meeting for which no specific agenda had been set.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's initiative to broaden the dialogue spectrum to resolve Kashmir issue, through a roundtable talk is now in jeaopardy with the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference rejecting his invitation.

Huriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said they felt such a move would "harm" the dialogue process between the Centre and the separatist amalgam and "is bound to create confusion".

"We are unanimous in rejecting the round-table conference," Farooq said in Srinagar.

"When the time for such a conference comes, the involvement of the leadership of India, Pakistan and both sides of Kashmir is a must," he said.

Pro-Pakistan hardline leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was the first to spurn the offer for talks which was followed byseparatist leader Shahbir Shah and JKLF Chief Yaseen Malik, who had held talks with the Prime Minister last week only.

There was no immediate comment from the government on whether it would proceed with the meeting for which no specific agenda had been set.

Last week, Manmohan held discussions with Yasin Malik and in January, he had met Sajjad Lone.
